Eyes

According to the FDA, adding water or (ick) saliva to dry mascara can add bacteria that can lead to irritation. Give your old mascara the boot when it’s dry, or around three months old. Same with liquid eyeliner: three months and it’s more than likely caput. Eye pencils last a little longer, around a year, because they don’t attract as much bacteria as liquid liners and mascara. You can hold on to your eyeshadow for up to two years, but make sure to clean those makeup brushes regularly so they don’t spread bacteria as well.
