New Year = New Year’s Skincare Resolutions

The New Year signals a fresh start and is a time to come up with resolutions for the upcoming seasons. While you may have resolutions such as working out regularly or getting consistent amounts of sleep, implementing new skincare habits can be great resolutions, as well! This week in the blog, we have Board-Certified dermatologist Dr. Hadley King sharing her opinions on which skincare resolutions we should implement this year.

Resolution #1: Take Time for Skincare

When we are overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be hard to prioritize skincare. However, we are making it a resolution in the new year to take the time to practice self-care and give ourselves some TLC at least once a week. One way to practice this is with our Restorative Enzyme Peel Exfoliating Gel. This quick peel can be done in as little as 2 minutes and is filled with skincare benefits, as discussed by Dr. King below:

“Enzymes are a great choice for exfoliation for those with sensitive skin who cannot tolerate alpha and beta hydroxy acid. Most of the enzymes used in skincare come from fruits and vegetables, such as pineapple, papaya, and pumpkin. These enzymes help dead skin cells slough off, leaving the skin smoother and softer and decreasing discolorations. And they work quickly– the process takes only 60 seconds.”

Resolution #2: Start Using a Retinol

It is never too late to start incorporating a retinol into your skincare routine! Retinol encourages healthy skin renewal and can help reduce the signs of aging. Our Renewal-A Age-Defying Retinol Night Serum helps to instantly plump the look of skin and visibly smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a firmer and brighter-looking appearance. See why Dr. King recommends using a Retinol below:

“Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives that are very powerful and can produce significant changes in the skin. They increase the turnover of skin cells, increase collagen production, and decrease discoloration. Beyond sun protection, retinoids are the most proven topical option for anti-aging.”

Resolution #3: Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

Hydration can help combat signs of aging while conditioning the skin for a softer, smoother-looking complexion. Using a thick moisturizer such as Be Smooth All-in-One Balm can help increase skin firmness, help reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce dry patches on the skin. Be Smooth is formulated with Moringa Oil, which is a favorite of Dr. King. See why she loves Moringa Oil below:

“Moringa oil is great for supporting the skin barrier, which seals in hydration and protects us from environmental stressors. This means that it is a good moisturizer and beneficial for dry and sensitive skin. Moringa oil is also similar to the oil naturally produced by our skin, which means that it can help to balance all skin types without being greasy.”

Resolution #4: Improve Your Skin Barrier

BeautyBiome Multiples CapsonandOff Flat White 1080

The microbiome was certainly a buzzy skincare trend this year, and we want to keep the trend going throughout 2023! Having a healthy skin barrier can help protect skin from environmental stressors while locking in hydration. Using a serum such as Beauty Biome Complex Serum helps balance the look of your complexion while boosting your skin’s barrier function to help reduce uneven skin texture and reveal brighter-looking skin. See what Dr. King has to say about the microbiome below:

“We are learning more about the important role that the microbiome plays in skin barrier function and conditions like acne, rosacea, and eczema. The skin microbiome makes important contributions to the skin barrier; it also produces skin nutrients and essential skin lipids.”
