To start off the new year right, let’s take a step back and look at what ingredients we are mixing together—and what we probably shouldn’t be mixing together. When the right ingredients are combined, your skin will be more likely to reap the benefits of a smooth, healthy-looking complexion. On the other hand, when some ingredients are mixed skin can feel dry and flaky. This week in the blog, we are going to go over the do’s and don’t of skincare combinations so you can have the skin you want to start off the new year.

Do Mix: Niacinamide + Retinol

Mixing Niacinamide and Retinol together is a dream combo that can help you achieve smoother, plumper looking skin when used together over time. While retinol works to exfoliate skin and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, niacinamide works to help minimize enlarged pores and add moisture back into the skin. Both retinol and niacinamide balance each other out when applied to the skin, making this the ultimate dream team skin care duo.

Instead, we suggest using a salicylic acid at night and vitamin C in the morning so you can have the benefits of both ingredients without causing any skincare problems.

Don’t Mix: Retinol + Salicylic Acid

New Year = New Year’s Skincare Resolutions

The New Year signals a fresh start and is a time to come up with resolutions for the upcoming seasons. While you may have resolutions such as working out regularly or getting consistent amounts of sleep, implementing new skincare habits can be great resolutions, as well! This week in the blog, we have Board-Certified dermatologist Dr. Hadley King sharing her opinions on which skincare resolutions we should implement this year.

Resolution #1: Take Time for Skincare

When we are overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be hard to prioritize skincare. However, we are making it a resolution in the new year to take the time to practice self-care and give ourselves some TLC at least once a week. One way to practice this is with our Restorative Enzyme Peel Exfoliating Gel. This quick peel can be done in as little as 2 minutes and is filled with skincare benefits, as discussed by Dr. King below:

“Enzymes are a great choice for exfoliation for those with sensitive skin who cannot tolerate alpha and beta hydroxy acid. Tis the Season for Holiday Parties!

The holidays are upon us, which means it’s time to socialize with friends and family and get into the holiday spirit! This week in the blog, we have put together a holiday makeup tutorial so you can look glamorous for any festive event or celebration this time of year.

Step 1: Picture Perfect Skin

To begin our holiday glam, let’s begin with our Be Picture Perfect Foundation. This 12-Hour Demi-Matte foundation helps to cover any imperfections while concealing uneven texture on the skin. Be Picture Perfect is formulated with gentle, hydrating ingredients such as shea butter and green tea leaf extract to help improve skin’s appearance with each use. Apply the foundation directly onto your foundation brush of choice until you achieve your desired coverage.

Step 2: Set It and Forget It

To set the foundation, apply our Translucent Veil Setting Powder all over the face with a fluffy brush to create a silky-matte, translucent finish on the skin. Translucent Veil is formulated with green tea and vitamin E to help conceal imperfections while minimizing the look of pores to help firm skin and hide any imperfections.

Step 3: Add Some Color

Add dewy color to the cheeks with Face Paint Lip & Cheek Tint. Available in three different shades, Face Paint provides long-lasting color to the cheeks and lips. Formulated with vitamin E and essential oils, this creamy blush helps to soften skin while leaving behind a sheen of color. Step 4: Onto the Eyes

Now that the base is finished, it’s time to move onto the eyes. Using the Jetsetter Palette for Beauty on the Fly, you can create the ultimate holiday glam with the deep matte and skimmer eyeshadow shades. For an easy-to-follow eye look, follow the guide below:

First, apply shade “Santorini” all over the lid up to the brow bone with a fluffy blending brush.
Next, apply shade “Venice” on the lid up to the crease with the same fluffy blending brush.
Using a smaller blending brush, apply shade “Barcelona” to the outer corner of the eyelid.
With a damp brush or your finger, apply shade “Sonoma” to the eyelid, avoiding the crease.
For the last step of this holiday glam eyeshadow, apply “Monte Carlo” to the inner corner and brow bone for a pop of highlight with a small blending brush or your finger.

Step 5: Define the Line

Add some drama to your eye with an eyeliner, such as our On the Line Waterproof Eye Pencil in shade black. This ultra-pigmented liner glides smoothly on the eye with a creamy feel and ultimate precision. Simply apply the precise line onto the lash line, extending the line outward from the eyelid to create a wing if desired.

Step 6: Lift Those Lashes!

For the final step of the eye look, apply our Top Shelf Volume + Curl Mascara in a zig-zag motion from the base of the lashes to the tip, reapplying until you have your desired lash. This uniquely curved mascara separates and lifts lashes for maximum volume and a bold and defined look.

Step 7: A Dramatic Lip

Introducing Our New Aloe Kiss and Aloe Pout Lip Products!

Drumroll please… introducing our brand-new Aloe Kiss and Aloe Pout lip-loving products! We have launched a Tinted Sheer Lip Balm and Matte Liquid Lipstick that are perfect for year-round color and hydration for the lips. In this blog, we are going to be going through the details of Aloe Pout Matte Liquid Lipstick and Aloe Kiss Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm, as well as how they can be combined together.

Sangria Splash + Red Chiffon

A sheer magenta + a true rich red

Mixing and matching a bright magenta and a true red creates a fun lip shade that is perfect for adding a pop of color to any outfit. We love being able to create unique colors such as this one with our Aloe Kiss and Aloe Pout lip products! We added our tinted lip balm under our matte red lip to give some extra hydration to our lips.

Just Peachy + Rose Silk

A soft cool pink + a deep rose mauve

Mixing together two cool tones pink/purple colors creates a unique color that is totally customizable! Simply add more of Just Peachy for a pinker lip, or Rose Silk for a deeper, mauve color. Whether you choose to put Just Peachy under or over Rose Silk, you will be left with a unique color that is perfect for the cooler seasons.

Cherry Soda + Luxe Linen

A sheer peach + a cool and creamy mauve

Last, but certainly not least, we have a unique combo of peach and mauve. Mixing together Cherry Soda and Luxe Linen creates a lighter mauve that can be customized to best match your skin tone.
